Little Free Library - https://littlefreelibrary.org/ I have been wanting to make one of these for a while...I could never settle on a shape or color. I haven't really "settled on one" , i just decided to build whatever. Of course wood is at its highest price right now. I got a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" sande plywood from a box store, nice finish, $10 less than regular ply. I had them rip 15" off so it would fit in my car. This leaves me with the 33" size that I need for the height of my sides. Basically I am making a 24"x24"x12" deep box, but the roof peak (which is offset) is 33". {I did find one flaw with the sande plywood : it doesnt like being cross cut...the top ply frays/splinters. I should have tried the trick of taping along the cut line.} I used my circular saw to cut the 8' long 33" wide piece into smaller chunks so they could be more easily handled on the table saw. The angle for the roof peak was done with a table saw sled and a small triangle. As you see, I added a couple of cross supports at the top. The roof, I left one side the regular 90 degree edge, then mitred the other piece to fit pretty flush. I assembled with some glue and a brad nailer. I added short strips 12" up on the inside side walls to hold the shelf. Then I caulked all the joints, inside and out. This picture is after the first coat of paint...I am thinking 3 or 4 coats. The doors will be mostly plexiglass. I cut some 2" wood strips, routed out half of the ends to join them as half lap. I used the table saw to cut a 1/2" deep groove for the plexiglass. Final steps will be to caulk the wood/plexi joint, paint them, install them. Then I get dig a post hole and mount.
